What to Wear to Blackout

Fit Inspo

Blackout Weekend is YOUR moment to get your fits right and dress to impress. Here's how to plan your wardrobe like a pro.

Show Up. Show Out.

We love when people get festive and bring whimsy. Some attendees rep their city hard—whether it's a hat, a jacket, or full-on 'nalia. Others bring the personality through bold prints, statement pieces, or themed fits that make the weekend more memorable. Blackout Weekend is about energy, expression, and showing up as the best version of yourself. Pack smart, dress with intention, and bring the vibe you want to be remembered for. Let's go!

Three Things to Know Before You Pack

1. The Weather Can Vary

Blackout Weekend takes place in Stateline, NV / Lake Tahoe, CA. During mid-March, average daytime temps typically range from the mid-30s to mid-40s°F, but conditions in Lake Tahoe can change throughout the day and weekend. Some years we've had snow falling, other years daytime temps hit the low 70s. Temps in the village, on the mountain, and at night can be completely different vibes. You might need a puffer at 8am and be comfortable in lighter layers by 2pm.

The move: Check the weather forecast about 10 days before you head out to anticipate potential changes. Pack layers—you can always take something off, but you can't add what you didn't bring.

2. What Are You Planning to Do?

Your itinerary determines your wardrobe. Someone hitting the slopes all day has different needs than someone who's only here for the parties and nightlife. Some events are outdoors, some are indoors, and some—like AFTR DRK Silent PJ Party and Club Night at Peak—have specific themes or dress codes. Map out your schedule and pack accordingly.

3. Where Are You Staying?

Many of the events are inside the host hotels, meaning there will be some events where you can go from event to event without going outside. This means you can get away with lighter layers, skip the coat, and dress like you're inside—because you are. If you're staying at a hotel further away, you may need a coat or need to consider your footwear for the walk over, especially if there's snow on the ground.

Some events will require leaving the host hotel—like Cool Connects, the day parties, and outdoor activities—so you'll want to consider outerwear, layers, and footwear for those. In all cases: Blackout Weekend is an occasion. Dress to impress. Period.

General Dressing for Most Events

The Vibe

For most events throughout the weekend, like Funny & Games etc, think upscale casual. This is an occasion and an opportunity to express yourself. Show up like you're part of something special. Because you are. Layer up because temperatures can shift, and make sure your footwear works for wherever you're headed.

For the indoor parties, a lot of attendees like to actually dance and it can get hot, so if you're dressing heavier, lighter layers underneath can be useful.

Pro tip: If you're arriving Thursday, events happen back-to-back from the Registration Mixer through to the After Party. Consider an upscale casual fit that can carry you through the evening without needing a full change.

Events That Require Special Fits

Day Parties: We Outside & Tipsy Putt Pull Up

Both day parties attract a mix of people coming straight off the slopes and those who came directly to turn up. You'll see on-mountain gear alongside upscale casual—both vibes work.

We Outside Day Party is fully outdoors, rooftop and mountainside, so double-checking the weather beforehand is super key.

Tipsy Putt Pull Up and Cool Connects may need to be walked to, so consider your footwear. Upscale casual that's walkable—or weather-appropriate gear if conditions require it.

Get Wet Pool Party

The pool is indoors, so you're good on weather—but bring your A-game swimwear. Your best swimsuit, trunks, bikini, one-piece, whatever makes you feel like that person. Don't forget a cover-up or robe for the walk, and slides or flip-flops.

Club Night at Peak

This is nightclub/cocktail attire. Think elevated, dressed up and ready to make an impression. This is your moment to bring the full fit—the one you've been planning, the one that turns heads. If you're staying at the host hotel, you can move straight from your room to the venue without stepping outside. This is the night to show out.

AFTR DRK Silent PJ Party

It's in the name: PAJAMAS. This is where the creativity comes out—onesies, robes, slippers, silk sets, whatever makes you feel cozy and fly. We've seen matching group sets, bold prints, designer silk robes, full teddy bear onesies, slippers with personality, robes you can dramatically twirl in. This is the one event where comfort is the whole vibe, so lean all the way in and have fun with it.

If You're Skiing or Snowboarding

What You Need for the Slopes

If you're hitting the mountain, you need the essentials. Don't try to improvise out here—the slopes will humble you real quick:

  • Waterproof ski/snowboard pants (non-negotiable)
  • Waterproof jacket (or a layered system with a shell)
  • Gloves (waterproof, insulated—your hands will thank you)
  • Helmet (safety first, always)
  • Thick, moisture-wicking socks (cotton socks don't work)
  • Base layers to stay warm and dry
  • Goggles or sunglasses (depending on sun/snow conditions)
  • Neck gaiter or balaclava (if it's real cold)

Many of these items can be rented if you don't own them. Your fit can still be fire on the slopes—coordinated snow gear, bold colors, matching sets all work.

Snow Tubing & Other Snow Activities

Not hitting the slopes but still want to play in the snow? You'll need:

  • Snow pants or waterproof pants
  • Weather-appropriate boots (waterproof, insulated)
  • Waterproof coat or puffer jacket
  • Hat, gloves, scarf
  • Layers underneath to stay warm

Snow tubing will get you wet and cold, so dress accordingly—waterproof gear keeps you comfortable while you're out there having fun.

Morning Wellness (Hiking & Workouts)

For Hiking: Weather-appropriate outdoor gear, sturdy boots or trail shoes, layers that move with you. If it's cold, bring a hat and gloves. The views will be worth it, but only if you're dressed right.

For Workouts: Standard workout gear—athletic wear that lets you move. Bring a towel and water bottle.

Final Reminders

  • Check the weather 10 days out and adjust your packing list accordingly. Don't wait til the last minute.
  • Plan outfits around your schedule—different events call for different vibes. Be strategic.
  • Layer, layer, layer—you can always take something off, but you can't add what you didn't bring. Facts.
  • This is your weekend—dress for the moments you want to remember. Show up like you mean it.

The Bottom Line

Blackout Weekend is about showing up and showing out. Whether you're fresh off the slopes or stepping into the club, your fits should reflect the energy you're bringing. Plan smart, pack layers, and get ready to make memories in style.

See you in Tahoe. 🎿✨
